Theft of Bicycles

Over the last couple of months, the Mole Valley Beat of Surrey Police have received several reports of burglaries from garages and outbuildings. The items that are most frequently stolen are tools and bicycles. They would like to take this opportunity to highlight the importance to be extra vigilant in securing your property.

They are aware of the impact that a burglary can have on a person and a family, not only does it have a financial impact, but it can also have a significant impact on your emotional well-being and sense of security.

The following link to the Surrey Police website can provide extensive and up to date advice and information on a whole range of Crime prevention suggestions:- https://www.surrey.police.uk/cp/crime-prevention

www.bikeregister.com and www.immobilise.com are two sites that you can use to register the serial number of your pushbike (usually found on the underside of the frame between the pedals). Police use both databases for any recovered bikes. Immobilise can be used to register anything in your property that has a serial number. Both are free to use.

Secured by Design (SBD) is the official police security initiative that works to improve the security of buildings and their immediate surroundings to provide safe places to live, work, shop and visit.

SBD’s product based accreditation scheme – the Police Preferred Specification - provides a recognised standard for all security products that can deter and reduce crime.
